How this works
RPM (revenue per mille) is what you earn per 1,000 views after YouTube's share. So: monthly views ÷ 1,000 × RPM.
- Stated presets use the RPM I gave in the video for that niche. Implied presets divide the earnings I quoted by the views I quoted, so they're rough.
- RPM changes a lot with your audience's country, video length and time of year. Long videos (15+ minutes) and a big US audience pushed the RPM up for the channels in my videos.
- Shorts are paid from a shared pool, so long-form RPMs don't transfer to them. Use your own Shorts RPM from YouTube Studio once you have it.
- You only earn ad money inside the YouTube Partner Program. See the requirements. And look at income beyond AdSense: some channels in my videos earn more from a $12 guide than from ads.
