I Copied This Viral Cold Survival YouTube Channel Using AI (it worked)

I watched one of these for 10 minutes before realizing it was completely AI. Life at −71°C started two months before this video: 16K subscribers, an estimated $11K+/month, and a top video at 1.8M views. Copycats like Frozen Towns were monetized within three weeks from 11 videos.

Why it works

A temperature most people can’t even imagine feels like sci-fi, so the titles and thumbnails are impossible to ignore. And in a feed full of fake-looking AI, this style feels raw and almost uncomfortably real: sound design, atmosphere and tiny imperfect details that hold you to the last second.

Step 1: Titles

Paste the title prompt from my doc into ChatGPT and get a list of hooking titles.

Step 2: Script plus a locked character

Paste your title into the script prompt. Besides the narration, it gives you:

  • a main character description prompt, the most important part. If the face changes between scenes, viewers click off.
  • visual prompts for every scene.

Step 3: Voiceover

Paste all scene narrations into a doc, then generate in ElevenLabs (I used a clean, realistic library voice) or DupDub.

Step 4: Realistic images with a reference

In Pippit → Image Studio → AI design (Nano Banana, free):

  1. Generate the character from the description prompt (16:9) and download it.
  2. For each scene: paste the prompt and upload the character image as a reference. The style and the face stay the same.

Step 5: Video with sound

These videos now have auto sound effects, thanks to Veo 3.1. In Google Flow (requires the Google AI Pro plan): New project → Ingredients to video, Veo 3.1 Fast, 16:9, upload the scene image, paste its prompt and generate. Repeat for every scene.

Step 6: Edit free in Pippit’s CapCut editor

Pippit’s Video editor gives you the CapCut dashboard free:

  1. Voiceover first, then sync clips.
  2. A smooth transition → Apply to all.
  3. Auto captions with a clean cinematic preset.
  4. Cinematic music, low, then export without watermark at 1080p.
