I Built a Vox-Style Explainer Video with ONE Prompt (No After Effects!)

A few years ago, a Vox-style explainer meant weeks in After Effects or thousands of dollars for a motion designer. I made a full one about why oil hit $100 again from one prompt, with no animating and no hiring.

Setup: Claude Code + Higgsfield

  1. Download Claude Code (free).
  2. Settings → Connectors → Add new connector → Custom connector, and name it Higgsfield.
  3. On Higgsfield (50% off), open MCP & CLI → MCP, select Claude, copy the URL, paste it into Claude Code and click Add.

That one copy-paste is the only technical step. Now Claude Code can generate your images, video and voiceover.

The problem: scenes that don’t match

Most people generate one scene at a time. Each looks great alone, but side by side they look like two different videos, with different colors and style. A real explainer holds one look from the first second to the last. That’s the hard part people pay for, so I spent a week solving it and packed the workflow into one free Claude skill (link above).

Build the video

  1. New chat in Claude Code → + → upload the skill file.
  2. Pick a topic people are already searching for. I checked the news and used US–Iran tensions.
  3. Keep the prompt simple: “An explainer video around a minute and a half about US–Iran tensions and why oil hit $100 again.”
  4. State the format (I used 16:9). I skipped it once and got a vertical video I couldn’t use.
  5. Pick a model (I used Opus 5) and set reasoning effort to extra.

Claude asks permission to use the skill, researches the topic so the script isn’t made up, lets you preview and choose a voice, and shows a full plan including what the video will cost before spending anything.

Then it generates every clip through Higgsfield, each built separately but following the same style rules, which is why they match. The voiceover is generated line by line and synced, and the final video assembles itself with no timeline. Just download it.

Final polish

Long pauses? Trim them in any editor like CapCut, add quiet background music and export. Finding topics people search for is easier with vidIQ.
